A doodle alternative from the makers of Scrumpoker

After the great success of Scrumpoker, we dared to start a second project and named it Whocan.org. With Whocan, we set out to develop a good alternative to Doodle.

What is Doodle and Whocan all about?

Doodle is actually an online tool for finding dates. You create a poll and propose different dates to the participants, from which they can choose which one suits them. Once everyone has voted, the date that suits most is chosen and an invitation is sent out.

A Doodle alternative to ask for participation in events

Doodle is actually used by many people for completely different scenarios. For example, the coach of a football team organises the matches for a whole season. He creates a date for each game and the players have to indicate when they will play. Sure, you can do that with Doodle. Technically, it’s almost the same as finding a date. But there are subtleties in which the scenarios differ. For example, the wording should be different. Or only 11 players can register per game. Or when creating the survey, it would be good to have a feature to create recurring appointments: e.g. every Saturday 10:00 am.

We have created an extra poll type at Whocan for attendance in events, called: Attendance.

An alternative to Doodle to distribute tasks

Another example where Doodle is used in a different way than it was intended is to distribute tasks. Let’s say the parents of a school class organise a barbecue. One should organise the barbecue, one should bring the sausages and every hour someone else should stand at the barbecue. Here you can immediately see how different the scenario is from finding a date. Each task should only be able to be picked by one person. And the whole thing has nothing to do with a date or appointments.

We at Whocan have also created an extra prefabricated template for distributing tasks.

Further use cases for Doodle

And so it goes on: At the moment, Whocan also offers the following survey types:
